A Plainville man was recently arrested after being chased by Gordon County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Sheriff Mitch Ralston said:
On the evening of Thursday, May 25, officers patrolling the Plainville area spotted a suspicious vehicle on Brownlee Mountain Road.
They tried to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver who resisted violently, but they sped off with police in pursuit.
The chase lasted several minutes before the sheriff performed a PIT maneuver and forced the suspect vehicle to a halt.
The vehicle’s driver and sole passenger was identified as Zachary B. Rusk, 43, of Hammond Drive in Plainville, who was later taken into custody.
A search of Rusk’s car found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
He was charged and jailed for trafficking fentanyl (a Schedule I controlled substance), driving under the influence, fleeing a police officer, and other traffic offenses.
A review of Gordon County Superior Court records revealed that he was convicted in 2018 of drug-related offenses and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
Rusk is now listed as a person on probation under state supervision.
