European hedge fund Brevan Howard Asset Management is making further forays into the digital asset space with the acquisition of Liquid Opportunities Fund. Liquid Opportunities is a cryptocurrency and digital asset fund managed by Dragonfly Capital, a leading cryptocurrency investment fund.
According to a Bloomberg report, Brevan Howard has signed an agreement with Dragonfly Capital to take over management of a long-short cryptocurrency fund. The $30 billion European hedge fund will operate the Liquid Opportunities fund under his Brevan Howard Digital, the cryptocurrency and digital assets arm.
Dragonfly Capital is a prominent name in the crypto investment space. Its portfolio includes big names like Amber Group, ByBit, Matrixport, Aptos and MakerDAO, among dozens of other projects. The crypto fund in question was established in June 2021 and is currently managed by Kevin Hu, Ashwin Ramachandran and Lawrence Diao.
Kevin Hu is the Chief Investment Officer of the Liquid Opportunities Fund. A person familiar with the matter revealed that the fund’s long-short trading strategy is consistent with Brevan Howard Digital’s aggressive trading approach.
Dragonfly Capital said in an internal document:
