Hawley County, South Carolina (WBTW) — One person was killed and another injured when a car crashed while fleeing police Monday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on W. Bear Grass Road, about eight miles south of Loris, said SCHP master trooper Brandon Bolt.
Officers tried to stop the car for reckless driving, but the driver fled, Holly County Police said.
Bolt said officers began chasing the 2001 Lexus north on Fremont Road before turning onto Highway 905 and onto W. Bear Grass Road, where it collided and rolled over. .
The Hawley County Fire and Rescue Service was called out at 6:31 p.m. and the injured were rushed to hospital by ambulance, Bolt said.
