California Highway Patrol officials were tracking a suspected Grand Theft Auto driver from Riverside Thursday night.
Inland Empire law enforcement launched a chase and the driver was clocked at nearly 100 miles per hour.
The CHP began tracking while traveling on the westbound 60 Freeway before transitioning to the southbound 57 Freeway via Lemon. The suspected pursuer then took his westbound Route 60 back and then his westbound Route 10 to Santa Monica.
There were at least two or three CHP cruisers in pursuit as the chase went so fast that the suspect in pursuit slipped through traffic and nearly lost control at times.
CHP ground forces decided to withdraw and law enforcement pursued the suspect from the air.
Sky5 was overhead.
