On Friday, March 3rd, the club held a small virtual meeting in Microsoft Teams. This was a follow-up to current plans and a discussion of upcoming events. One of these events was the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Interest event scheduled for April 19th. The event will be held at his recently opened NAGS Bar & Kitchen and will be attended by local business owners. This event is for students to practice their networking skills and gain insights for running a business. Club members said they will discuss how local business owners can join the Chamber of Commerce, how to become ambassadors and how to get involved. Discussions are taking place on how the Chamber of Commerce can help run local businesses and make valuable connections. Before the meeting ended, one of our members was working on a study on St. Onnie’s Day, an event where Oneonta students gather to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. In this survey, we asked students where they would like to go to celebrate. Two of the four recommendations were the Red Jug Pub and the Latte Lounge. The release of this study is still in progress. The purpose of this survey is to keep up with the community socially and find out which businesses are popular. Such connections help the club grow and pursue these business opportunities.
At this time, the club does not hold any campus events other than general assembly. With the Executive Committee votes underway, members are taking their time choosing their candidates. The Entrepreneurship Club looks forward to competing with groups in business competitions and exploring their knowledge base.
