Victorville, CA (VVNG.com) — A 19-year-old from Apple Valley was arrested after crashing after an illegal street race in Victorville turned into a chase.
Occurred at approximately 11:55 pm on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Victorville Police Department Traffic Safety DUI Suppression Office.
Sheriff officials said deputies saw two Dodge Challengers participating in a street race on 11th Street in Victorville at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The lieutenant performed a traffic stop in a white 2017 Dodge Challenger that had a driver and two passengers on board.
driver, David Remusdisobeyed the order of the lieutenant and drove away at high speed.
The chase ended in the city of Hesperia near 11th Avenue and Eucalyptus Street when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a street sign and a telephone pole.
The vehicle was badly damaged and was detained for 30 days. Officials said the occupants were not injured.
Remus was arrested and charged with charges including participating in an illegal speed contest, driving under the influence of alcohol, and evading a sheriff’s safety officer. He was released from custody after posting bail.
