KU VC Holds Women-Only Entrepreneurship Exhibition
Call it ‘a true reflection of women’s empowerment’

Srinagar, May 29: Professor Nilofar Khan, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, on Monday launched an exhibition on all-female entrepreneurship that drew a large attendance of students and faculty on the university’s main campus.
The day-long exhibition was organized by the Center for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR) and was attended by 45 young Kashmiri entrepreneurs who set up businesses to become financially independent.
Professor Nilofer said the exhibition provided an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products and raise awareness, and that such events are being held to encourage young students to start entrepreneurial businesses in the future. He said it was the university’s commitment to help promote the business.
“Universities cannot operate in isolation. We must connect with society through initiatives like this exhibition and engage young people to contribute to the country’s economic growth,” she said.
The Vice Chancellor toured all the stalls set up at the exhibition and interacted with young entrepreneurs who shared inspiring stories of entrepreneurship.
“These stories are a true reflection of women’s empowerment,” Professor Nilofar said, urging students to take inspiration from women entrepreneurs.
Stalls displaying a wide range of products, from apparel to food and cosmetics, were lined up.
Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Research, Dean of Examinations Administration, Dean of Student Welfare, senior faculty members of various faculties, senior administrative staff, as well as a number of researchers and students attended the first session of the exhibition held on the Lawn of Administration attended the Research department.
Later, the Registrar, Dr. Nissar A Mir, also visited the exhibition and toured the stalls.
Coordinator of the exhibition, Dr. Roshan Ara, CWSR, and co-registrar, Dr. Ashfaq Zari, who coordinated the exhibition, also spoke on the occasion, advising the Vice Chancellor of the broader objectives of the event.
Dr. Ara said the current activity is part of CWSR’s outreach to involve young entrepreneurs. She thanked the university authorities for their full support of such programs.
Dr. Zari emphasized the need to organize more such events to promote university efforts towards building an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in universities.
