LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the first police shooting of 2023 near the intersection of Sunset Road and Stephanie Street in Henderson.
A Metro spokesperson said FOX5 officers were chasing a suspected robbery and carjacking. The suspect’s driver collided and struck another vehicle that was approaching a busy intersection.

Police said the suspect then jumped out of the car and fled on foot. One of the suspects had a gun in his hand, Metro said. At that moment, the police fired a gun and shot the robbery suspect.
The woman was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound. She is in a critical condition, police said at her press conference.

Two people in the car that collided suffered minor injuries.
No officers were injured.
A FOX5 photographer happened to be in the area by the time the chase ended. An exclusive dashcam video shows the FOX5 Rover followed by a black sedan Zipp of the Metro unit. Our photojournalist recounts the moments that followed. A crash occurred and gunshots rang out.
Metro contained the scene with the assistance of the Henderson Police Department and the Nevada State Police.
The intersection will be closed as investigators process the area.
