Three suspected robberies were arrested on Wednesday after police chased them and barricaded them in a house in Laverne.
The suspects have been identified as Anissa Birgen, 19, Erika Mireles, 29, and Victor Hugo Benitez, 30, according to the Glendora Police Department.
Police responded to a call that three people had stolen from a Coles store in Glendora where Benitez was allegedly armed with brass knuckles and a taser and teasing employees.
When police arrived, the suspects fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, ending the police pursuit in Laverne.
All three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled to the neighborhood, police said. The two female suspects entered a nearby residence and hid in a closet while the home owner was there.
The male suspect, Benitez, jumped over the fence of several houses and entered the home when the homeowner was inside.
The homeowner was able to escape Benitez and fled to police officers waiting outside. Authorities said she was held hostage for about 30 minutes before her release. Benitez was also carrying a firearm at the time.
A standoff ensued as Benitez refused to leave the house. The Foothills Special Enforcement Team was dispatched to the scene.
After more than five hours of negotiations, Benitez finally surrendered and was taken into custody. Two female suspects were also arrested without incident.
Benitez has been charged with kidnapping, wrongful imprisonment, robbery, felony fugitive, Grand Theft Auto, hit and run, and felony possession of a firearm.
Mireles has been charged with felony theft, trespassing and petty theft. Virgen was arrested on felony theft and trespassing charges.
