Arkansas Yoga and Therapy Center
A comprehensive yoga center founded in 1998, the Arkansas Yoga and Therapy Center focuses on the benefits of safe, accessible, sustainable and adaptable authentic yoga practices.
Andrea Forne, owner of the Arkansas Yoga and Therapy Center, discovered yoga while rehabbing a back injury, and the practice quickly became her passion.
After moving to Fayetteville from Hawaii in 1993, Fournette wanted to spread the word about the therapeutic benefits of yoga practice, and spent the next nine years teaching yoga at the Washington Area Athletic Center. In 1994, she introduced yoga to her college’s men’s basketball team, the year the Razorbacks won her first NCAA national championship.
In 2005, Fournet constructed and opened a new facility with yoga, tai chi, and other health-related classes. The Arkansas Yoga and Therapy Center is a registered Yoga Alliance school, and the center’s schedule includes classes, workshops, and teacher training, making it the largest yoga teacher training program in the state.
In March 2020, life in the world changed. The outbreak of the global pandemic forced the center to close for two months. Like other small businesses, Fournette has managed to stay above the surface. Needing help moving forward and clarifying next steps for the center, Fournette reached out to the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas.
With the help of ASBTDC Business Consultants Lori Lebron and Katherine Corey, the Arkansas Yoga and Therapy Center’s goals were achieved.
