Dickenson County, Virginia (WJHL) – A man faces multiple felony charges Wednesday for allegedly stealing several vehicles over two days in Dickenson County and leading a multi-law enforcement jurisdictional chase.
Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) agents responded to a report of a robbery at JWT Well Services. Surveillance footage from the facility reportedly showed a man breaking into a store window and breaking into the store, a Sheriff’s Department release said.
Several tools were taken from the store and the man fled in a DCSO-owned Ford pickup truck, the DCSO said. The truck was later found at Hardy’s in St. Paul, Virginia, and surveillance footage recorded the suspect leaving the area, the statement said.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Tuesday that a Ford Taurus was stolen in the St. Paul area, according to the DCSO.
Investigators later identified the suspect as Jonathan Reid Stiltner, 48.
A reportedly stolen Ford Taurus was found wrecked in the Ghost Rock neighborhood of Dickinson County on Wednesday, May 24, a release said. Around the time the vehicle was found, the DCSO was reportedly alerted that a Chevrolet van was obstructing the driveway of a home on Cow Pass Road.
DCSO agents found the van belonged to Mountain View Marina and determined it had been stolen. Witnesses were able to identify Mr. Stiltner as the driver of the van, the release said.
That night, lawmakers responded to Skeet Rock Road referring to a Pontiac G6 stolen from a house.
The Pontiac owner reported seeing Mr. Stiltner park an ATV in the driveway of his home and leave with multiple items, including a firearm, in the vehicle, according to a statement.
“Members of Congress and officials from several jurisdictions converged in the area. Officers turned on the vehicle on Blowing Rock Road and a chase commenced. The vehicle entered Tibis Ridge. At the end of Tibis Ridge. , [Stiltner] I walked and ran. Legislators and police officers from multiple jurisdictions tracked the man to the Lower Twin area of Lake Flanagan,” the release reads.
According to the DCSO, Mr. Stiltner was arrested and charged with:
- Felon Elude x2
- Robbery x2
- Grand Theft x2
- car theft x3
- have stolen goods
- theft of firearms
- Possession of firearms by convicted felons
- steal an atv
Investigators reportedly found evidence from the allegedly broken-in home and found multiple firearms and other items inside the car.

As of Thursday, Mr. Stiltner is being held without bail at Heysi Regional Prison.
