PORTLAND, Oregon – Two people were jailed on Saturday afternoon after police claimed they drove a stolen vehicle and led police to chase two separate busts.
Officers pursued the first vehicle around 3:30 pm in the area of 122 SE and Ash Street. Police say they pursued him from a distance, attempting to use intervention techniques.
The vehicle was speeding and after briefly colliding with several vehicles, it collided and overturned on northbound Interstate 205 on Sandy Boulevard, where it reportedly caught fire.

The suspect was arrested after he crashed on I-205 northbound off Sandy Blvd.
The driver and passenger were taken to hospital with injuries. The driver has been charged with motor vehicle misuse, felony escape, and multiple other charges.
Later in the afternoon, a second stolen vehicle was chased near Interstate 205 and Holgate Boulevard, and three people got out of the vehicle to flee police. Police said guns were found nearby, one of which he threw.

Drivers face charges of motor vehicle misuse, escape, and possibly additional felony charges.

According to the city’s stolen vehicle statistics dashboard, more than 11,800 vehicles were stolen in the city between January 2022 and January of this year, of which 92% were recovered.
Hazelwood has the most stolen vehicles, followed by Lenz and Northwest Portland.
