GMP urges customer safety as Nor’Easter heads to region Monday night
- Forecast calls for heavy wet snow in high elevations in central and southern Vermont
- Prolonged storm Monday night through Wednesday morning that can cause severe travel conditions

Vermont Business Magazine Green Mountain Power (GMP) is warning customers of a massive winter storm system that will affect the northeastern United States, including parts of Vermont, starting Monday night. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for parts of Vermont. This is due to the possibility of heavy snowfall lasting Monday night through Wednesday morning. Heavy, wet snowfall is forecast for the higher elevations of central and southern Vermont.
“We want our customers to be aware of the changing conditions in the forecast and to stay safe. , trees and lines can get heavy,” said Mike Burke, GMP’s vice president of field operations. We also have additional crews available to respond alongside our field crew. Forecasts will continue to vary slightly depending on the exact course of the storm.”
GMP encourages customers to stay far away and contact GMP if there are fallen railroad tracks or trees. It’s also a good idea to keep the following basics handy at all times:
